Brazil drops visas

This month the government announced that on June  17th 2019 Brazil will drop visas for US, Canadian, Australian and Japanese citizens. It will allow visitors from those countries to freely visit Brazil, without the need to obtain any additional documents.

More tourists coming to Brazil

According to the Brazilian Tourism Ministry, the number of tourists in Brazil is going to nearly double by 2022. It is estimated that in the next four years the number of tourists visiting Brazil will reach 12 million, which will generate approximately US$19 billion in foreign currency, slightly more than three times the current amount.

State of Rio Grande Do Norte – dynamic development of tourism

  • In September, Portuguese Group Vila Gale opened its resort in Touros (north of Natal) with 514 rooms
    (https://vilagale.com/br/hoteis/rio-grande-do-norte/vila-gale-touros).
  • Investments were also announced by America’s Hard Rock Hotel Group, which plans to build two hotels, one in Sao Paulo (250 units) and one in Extremoz, RN 30 km from Natal (500 units). 
  • Another dozen projects with building permits are in the pipeline. According to the Brazilian Hotel Management Forum, the hotel sector in Brazil could grow by 13% by 2022.
